Battlestar Galactica: The Nerdening

| | Comments (1)

So...earlier this week, my friend Lyza suggested that she and her husbeau come over to watch the BSG premiere tonight, as they have recently ditched Comcast and gone solely OTA HD with a Mac Mini and some add-ons. Okay, right on.

But then, Lyza emailed me today to alert me to something called Frak Party. It's a mechanism for hosting BSG viewing parties. Since I already go to a weekly LOST party (okay, I hear you starting the 'nnnnnerd' in the back of your throat, stop it), I figured I'd go ahead and host a Frak Party. I posted my party four hours before the premiere.

Three random internet people showed up (WITH ONLY FOUR HOURS' NOTICE), and they were totally fun!

So we're going to have it every week from here on out.

If you're in the Portland area and want to watch BSG at my house, comment or email me or something.

Internet-mediated television-based socializing is the new "dinner party with friends"!!

As you heard, my "When the Levees Broke" Move-On.org party was a success, too. So long as I have cable and the internet, friends will be a lot easier to come by. Thank goodness!

I noticed that Metroblogging Portland commented on the Frak parties (and lackthereof in Portland). (Don't ask me why I look at that website, btw -- it's stupid and reactionary.)
